Rapist cult leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was sentenced on Monday to 20 years in jail, also had sexual relations with his adopted daughter, the woman’s estranged husband has told Mail Today.
Vishwas Gupta had also moved court in 2011, accusing the Baba of having illicit relations with his wife, Honeypreet, and had sought her judicial custody.
The leaders of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect led by Ram Rahim has rejected the allegations, terming them concocted and baseless.
Mail Today tried to speak to Dera spokesperson Dr Aditya Insan, but his phone was switched off. The sect’s lawyer SK Garg Narwana did not respond to calls.
‘I was staying at the goofa (cave), private room of Baba ji. My wife was with him. He had inadvertently left the door open. They were naked and were having sex. They were shocked when they saw me. Baba had threatened me not to reveal anything and had said that I will be killed,’ Gupta, who was previously a Dera follower, told Mail Today.
Honeypreet Insan has a controversial past. Sources say she married Gupta, a moneyed man, in 1999.
She grew close to Ram Rahim and in 2009 moved a dowry harassment case against her in-laws.
Gupta too went to court but he retracted his charges and settled the matter. The Dera chief adopted Priyanka, and gave her the name Honeypreet.
‘Honeypreet was adopted by Baba as he had bad intentions. He sexually exploited her as she was beautiful,’ claimed Gupta, who now lives in secrecy, allegedly following threats from members of the sect.
Gupta claimed he and his parents were compelled to leave the Dera and started living in Haryana’s Panchkula district. He alleged that earlier he and Honeypreet accompanied Ram Rahim wherever the self-styled godman would go, but the Baba did not let her sleep with Gupta.
She and Ram Rahim would sleep together in one room, he claimed. Gupta got married to Priyanka, a resident of Fatehabad, on Valentine’s Day in 1999.
‘Baba had thrown a big party at the goofa the same year and had later announced that he was adopting my wife and I would be his son-in-law,’ Gupta claimed.
On her social media accounts, Honeypreet describes herself as, ‘Papa’s Angel, philanthropist, director, editor, actress! Passionate to transform my Rockstar Papa’s directions into actions!’
She has over a million followers on Twitter and more than five lakh (500,000) on Facebook.
She drew interest after being pictured accompanying Ram Rahim in a chopper from court to jail after his conviction.
Singh has two biological daughters – Amanpreet and Charanpreet – with his wife Harjeet Kaur, as well as a son, Jasmeet Insan.
Ram Rahim’s conviction last week led to deadly riots by his followers, with about three dozen people being killed and hundreds injured.
The authorities took no chances on the day of his sentencing, deploying thousands of riot police on the streets, closing schools and shutting down internet services in Haryana and parts of neighbouring Punjab.
Ram Rahim faces more trouble as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing two cases against him pertaining to conspiring in murders and a third over alleged castration of 400 Dera followers at the sect’s headquarters in Haryana’s Sirsa.
Singh could be awarded a life sentence in the murder cases, with the trial near completion.
The castration case is still being probed.
