Illegal burning, destruction of Mangroves at Malad-Malvani, Police Fail to take Action

Illegal destruction of Mangroves by dumping of garbage, scrap and other debris and then setting it on fire – showing that the fire was caused accidently was observed in Malad-Malvani over the last 2-3 days.

The police have failed to take action and no complaint or FIR has been registered.

Malvani police officials were unavailable for comment.

Social activists in the Malvani area complained of the illegal activity going on over the last few days. As proof of the activity, a citizen journalist uploaded the photograph on the Times of India website on 9th March (today), after the police failed to take action.
