Madiyah Al Sharqi: UAE’s top Fujairah-based designer to watch out for!

Accordingly to a Middle East news report, when Kim Kardashian chased down Madiyah Al Sharqi at her showcase on the sidelines of Paris Fashion Week, little did she know she was in the presence of a real princess.

Literally, a princess, Sheikha Madiyah Al Sharqi is the daughter of the Ruler of Fujairah, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi.

From an early age she witnessed tailors custom make lavish gowns fit for royalty and decided then fashion was her calling.

Her eponymous label was launched after graduating from the prestigious French fashion university, Esmod.

At Fashion Forward 2014 Al Sharqi offered effortless evening wear with an updated edge, evolving the traditional vision of elegance.

The stunning Spring/Summer collection featured a sixties influence, and see’s Al Sharqi skillfully combine neon jacquards with subtle crocheted lace.

The collection featured an array of garments, from gowns to jumpsuits – injecting timeless silhouettes with fresh colours and fabrics without losing Al Sharqi’s regal sensibility.

Sheikha Madiyah al-Sharqi, daughter of HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed al-Sharqi, the Ruler of Fujairah, is definitely one of the top Emirati designers to watch out for.

Graduating from the prestigious French fashion school Esmod, al-Sharqi already has a number of accolades to her name, including being recognized as a Vogue Italia “Vogue Talent” and being awarded “Best Fashion Designer” at the 2013 Arab Woman Awards.

She was also honored as a finalist at the 2013 Woolmark Prize.

For SS17, Al Sharqi combines flowy silhouettes with textured fabrics against neutral tones, perfect for the upcoming season.

For the season ahead, Madiyah Al Sharqi has abandoned her formerly sweet, saccharine, and elegant ship, and has instead jumped onto a cool-girl boat.

For Spring/Summer 2017, according to a savoirflair.com report, the Fujairah-based designer continues to experiment with new shapes and styles, injecting exaggerated proportions, fluid silhouettes, and rugged textures into her collection.

While her noted design aesthetic — in particular, a razor-sharp focus on intricate and exquisite embroidery — remains the same, the new direction has an ath leisure vibe that is fresh, urban, and modern, ushering in a new era for the region’s most celebrated brand, opines savoirflair.com.

Not only does the new season come with a creative evolution for the talented designer, but it also sees the launch of Al Sharqi’s e-commerce website, which includes her collaboration with jewelry designer Donna Hourani (look out for the limited-edition pair of earrings which spell out ‘MAS’).
