BY FLYNN REMEDIOS: In a startling revelation, former senior BJP leader from the Cabin Road area of Bhayandar Sharad Patil who has contested on BJP tickets for the last 20 years or so, has now alleged that BJP MLA Narendra Mehta is playing games with them. In an interview to “Saamna“, Patil alleged that Mehta is selling tickets for Rs 50 to Rs 75 lakh and pocketing some of the money for himself.
Sources from the Patil camp told IndiaScribes.com that Mehta has already sold 2-3 tickets in the Mira Bhayandar Municipality area for the MBMC polls for sums varying from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 75 lakh.
“He is keeping half the money to himself and sharing the rest with the party towards election expenses. Narendra Mehta is minting money and lining his own pockets, while using the name of the BJP party, and his personal contacts with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and the persona of PM Narendra Modi, which is a big fraud on the party,” Patil’s supporters told IndiaScribes.com.

Apart from the goof-up in distribution of tickets in the Mira Bhayandar Corporation Elections, the issuance of double AB (forms mentioning the official party candidate) forms for the same seats in a couple of panels led to further chaos and confusion in the BJP.
Veteran BJP leader Sharad Patil and another strong contender Rohini Kadam were left fuming after learning that the party had already given the AB forms to other nominees as well. This left them tagged them as independent candidates if they wished to contest the polls.

“There is no transparency or democracy in the Mira-Bhayandar unit of the BJP. The entire MBMC elections has become a farce as within the Mira-Bhayandar unit of the BJP everyone knows who calls the shots and who is the deciding factor. Those local BJP leaders who have direct access to CM Devendra Fadnavis are spared. Otherwise they are at the complete mercy of Narendra Mehta, says one of Sharad Patil’s supporters, adding that in the run-up to the candidate selection process Mehta has been openly asking prospective candidates as to how much money they (the candidate) can give him. He (Mehta) tried to take money even from “poor” candidates on the pretext of augmenting party funds. The BJP is in power in Delhi as well as in the State. It does not need funds from BJP candidates in Mira-Bhayandar,” added one of Patil’s confidantes.
“It’s nothing but a calculated conspiracy, first they shifted me from my traditional ward then they played this dirty trick to ensure my withdrawal.” alleged Patil according to a report in the Afternoon Despatch & Courier.
