According to tinsel town gossip, Tribhuvan Trilok Films (TTF) a well-known film and Tv software production house from South India has approached EndemolShine India – the owners of the format for Bigg Boss in India with a proposal to start regional versions on prominent local or regional Tv channels in various local languages, it is reliably learnt.
While there is already a Tamil version on the channel Star Vijay and Bangla version on the channel ETV Bangla in addition to the main Hindi version on Colors TV, plans to start Gujarati, Punjabi and even a Bhojpuri edition, reveal sources at Tribhuvan Trilok Films. The proposal is head by CEO and Producer of TTF Ashok Kumar Jha.
It is not sure when the shows will be held, but the production house in its proposal has stated that it wants to get the first two editions or versions online by January 2018. It is not sure if the Punjabi and Bhojpuri versions will take off first or will it be the Gujarati and Bhojpuri versions. It all depends on the slots allotted by the regional language channels, who have been simultaneously approached with a different format – just in case EndemolShine does not want to take Bigg Boss to the villages.
A source from TTF confirmed that they would like to go with EndemolShine India (ESI), but just in case ESI does not play ball, they will use their own format for the regional TV shows. “If fact we have already registered a concept which is similar but far more interesting than the Bigg Boss format. We will see if EndemolShine India is interested in joining us or else we will go ahead with our own “different format”. Bigg Boss has become a big brand in India with regard to Tv Reality Shows and our first choice would be to be part of this “brand”. However, in case, it does not happen, we will go ahead with our registered format and name.
The production house has appointed a casting director from Gajanand Vinayak Casting Agency to start scouting for interesting, unique and exclusive local talent from the corners of India for the Gujarati, Punjabi and Bhojpuri versions. Those youth interested can email their bio data and photographs to webtv.castingindia AT gmail.com with a note on how you are unique as an actor. This is for the commoners section, while celebs will be approached directly by the casting agency. An official announcement could be expected soon, our source said.
The first season of the Tamil series Bigg Boss Tamil was broadcast between 25 June 2017 and 30 September 2017 on Star Vijay. The first season of the show was hosted by Kamal Haasan.
The show is based on the Big Brother format developed by John de Mol. A number of contestants (known as “housemates”) lived in a purpose-built house and were isolated from the rest of the world. Each week, housemates nominated two of their peers for eviction, and the housemates who received the most nominations would face a public vote. Of these, one would eventually leave, having been “evicted” from the House. However, there were exceptions to this process as dictated by Bigg Boss. In the final week, there will be 4-5 housemates remaining, and the public would vote for who they want to win. Unlike other versions of Big Brother, the Indian version uses celebrities and well-knowns as housemates, not members of the general public.
For the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil, a lavish house set was constructed at EVP theme park, Chennai.
Bigg Boss Bangla is the Bengali-language version of the reality TV programme Bigg Boss broadcast in India. It follows the Big Brother format, which was first developed by Endemol in the Netherlands.
The 1st Season of Bigg Boss Bangla was telecast by ETV Bangla, a Bengali general entertainment channel, and was hosted by Mithun Chakraborty while the second season was hosted by Jeet.
