Opposition parties gear up as Mira-Bhayander civic polls to be held on Aug 20

MUMBAI: The Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) elections for the 95 seats will be held on August 20. The election code of conduct has come into force from today.

The state election commission while announcing the election date stated that the counting of votes will be held on August 21. The existing civic body’s term ends on August 27.

A total of 5.93 lakh voters have been registered. Of the 95 seats, 48 seats have been reserved for women.

The voting will be held from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. Counting of votes will begin at 10 am.

Nominations can be filed between July 26 to August 2. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on August 3. Candidates can withdraw their papers till August 5.

The civic body is currently ruled by the BJP-Shiv Sena combine
